Lacson labeled complaint filed against President Duterte in ICC as “unpatriotic”: Itatapon lang yan sa basurahan
Senator Ping Lacson believes that the complaint filed by Attorney Jude Sabio in the International Criminal Court against him, President Duterte and other government officials will only be thrown in the dustbin.
In his tweet, Lacson believes that the complaint where the testimony of self confessed DDS hitman Edgar Matobato and retired cop Arthur Lascañas is dustbin bound if they are the only person who will testify because the two were already proven as ‘perjured witness’ in the senate.
“ICC case vs PRRD, et al is dustbin bound if two perjured witnesses, Lascañas and Matobato are the only ones testifying,”
“As the presiding chairman of the Senate investigation that heard Lascañas and Matobato’s testimonies, if they are Atty. Sabio’s main witnesses against PRRD et al, or worse, the only witnesses, being both polluted sources and a perjured witnesses at that, I am almost certain that the complaint is as good as without merit,” Lacson said in a text message to reporters.
Edgar Matobato’s statement were already decided as ‘trash’ by the senate and Arthur Lascañas flip flop testimonies is already impossible to believe.
Lacson believes that the complaint filed against President Rodrigo Duterte in the ICC meant only to ’embarrass’ the president as the Philippines hosts the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit this year.
“Embarrassing our president before world leaders who will be converging in our country for an international summit like the ASEAN is one of the most unpatriotic acts and the worst disservice that one can do to his country,” Lacson said.
He pointed out that the filing of the complaint in the International Criminal Court should first meet at least two basic requirements.
Fist is when the national court are ‘unwilling or unable to prosecute’ those accused and the second is when the United Nations Security Council or other states refer the case/s to the International Criminal Court.
“In order to determine if the ICC will give due course to the complaint filed by Atty Sabio, let us ask ourselves if these requirements or conditions are met, then we can draw our conclusion from there,” Lacson said.
